At church Magda heard about the need for literacy teachers. She was interested and received training through Dimpna, the literacy coordinator. That was two years ago. Her class normally has 5 to 6 students. They meet Monday through Thursday from 2 to 4 pm at her house.
“Generally they all motivate me. But there are some that are really special. One in particular is Sister Isabel. Sister Isabel had never gone to school at all, and when she started the circle she started at zero. Nonetheless, we’ve progressed, praying to God that that she will finish. Her motivation is to read the Bible, and with God’s help we will reach that goal. She motivates me to keep helping these adults to learn to read and write.”—Magda Díaz
